I gave a talk at church in June and afterwards I had the distinct impression that I needed to make a trip to California to spend time with my parents and siblings there. It wasn't in the summer plan but after comparing calendars we found a week that would work. Luckily our new car is amazing and got us there safely and quickly. We don't have a DVD player in it anymore but we really enjoyed listening to The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe on the way and Prince Caspian on the way back. The temperature in Folsom was in the 100's every single day, but we made the most of it. Luckily my parents now have a pool so we went swimming for hours, at least twice a day. By the end of the week my kids all had blisters on their feet from so much pool playing.
We had fun being with cousins, Nana, Grumpy and Aunts and Uncles.
We did Fairy Tale Town and Vic's Ice Cream Parlour one day. Our kids took up all but one of the stools.
The kids took turns sleeping at Wendy's house or my parents. I made sure I had a bed every night:)
My parents took Nathan to do Baptisms for the Dead at the Sacramento Temple. So special for all of them.
Wendy, Jacob and I went out to dinner to FATS. It was SOO delicious!
We spent a lot of time in the pool. On the last day we even got Grumpy into the pool!
I am so glad I was inspired to go and visit my family. I miss them a lot but my busy life doesn't let me get away very often. I love that modern transportation and technology makes it such that even though I live 600+ miles away we get to see and talk to them as often as we can.
