Busy Saturday

Like any day at our house, last Saturday was busy.  We had one thing right after the other.  First up was cousin Miles 1st Birthday Party.  In the sunshine it was warm, but in the shade it was freezing.  I am so glad we thought to grab coats for everyone.  The kids had fun playing on the park with their cousins and it was nice to be outside and not be in charge of a gathering. After the party we headed over to the rock and gem show since Annabelle loves rocks.  We didn't stay long, but I'm glad we went.

 

 

 Next up was a cookie booth for my girl scout troop.  We were in the shade the whole time and FREEZING!  The girls did great and we were sold out of most everything within 2 hours so we packed up and called it a day. We even got to cancel our last booth so that was awesome! I do have a few Tagalongs and Rahrah raisins leftover, but not as many as last year.

 For Greg's birthday I planned a fun double date with the Heaps.  First we went out to dinner at the Bombay House in Provo.  It was their first time and luckily they enjoyed it.  Then we went to Eskaped.  We got locked into a silver motor home with 6 other people for 45 minutes and had to solve a dozen or more puzzles so that we could unlock the case with the key inside.  It was a lot of fun and kind of crazy, but a very cool experience.  I would love to try other rooms and see if we could figure things out as quickly.  We made it out with 10 minutes left on the clock.

First Tooth

 I am definitely not a tooth person, I could never be a dentist. Just looking at the picture above makes me shiver and cringe.  Callie home from school on Friday with her first loose tooth.  She was so excited.  And then, but the end of the night she was crying because it was hurting her so bad.  After a valiant attempt by herself, she let dad do the honors and out it came. I am not surprised it was hurting her since it had a very sharp bottom.  There was lots of tears and blood, but she survived and was happy to report the next morning that the tooth fairy had left her a dollar. For breakfast I let her have some cider so she could drink through a straw and it was easier to get a picture of her little window.

Track

 Nathan decided (with a lot of encouragement) to give track a try this year.  It hasn't been easy and it definitely hasn't been his favorite thing ever, but so far he is enjoying himself.  Nathan is racing the 1600 and the 800 and then doing the long jump. I am proud of Nate for trying new and hard things.  At the freezing meet the other day he said, "I'd much rather be climbing right now."

St. Patrick's Day

 I barely finished this little table runner in time for the "big" day.  It was fun to try something new and my machine had just been serviced so it worked beautifully.  The girls are the only ones who get in to this holiday any more.  they were covered in green and had fun making leprechaun traps and leaving notes with expectations of receiving one back.

 We started the day out with green muffins and luckily we had some kiwi. 

 The leprechauns, Tilly and Trixie, got away but they did leave a little note for each girl.

 

 I made some yummy pistachio pudding cookies for after school snack.  I loved the sweet and salt combination.

 For dinner we had green sodas and our traditional Corned beef and cabbage.  I think we also had a track meet and other busy things going on that day so the bread burned (but I turned into french toast casserole which was amazing so it was worth it).  Holidays are getting harder, but I try to make sure I meet the basic desires of my kids and I am good.

Overload of Craziness

 

I went a whole week without an oven.  We had the stove top and crockpot dinners.  It wasn't too hard, just no baking (which is probably a good thing).  I love my new oven.  It is pretty and clean and I love the 2 ovens and the ceramic top.  Now I just need all my other appliances to break. 

 We went to Tooele for Jacob's baptism.  I love Greg's family and wish mine was only an hour away.

 Nathan and his friends were the only guy group out of 7 teams for Battle of the Books.  They took 3rd place (and were very upset about it) but I was so proud of their hard work and dedication.

 My friend gave me a great idea for Family Home Evening that I also used with my Probitas group.  The game was to see who could squeeze out all the toothpaste first.  Once they were all done I said they now had to put it all back in the tube.  The analogy goes that the words we say to others come out quickly and can be mean sometimes, but you can't take them away. 

 Ryan was the only one who tried to put it back in, without success.

 

 Greg celebrated his birthday this last week and while he kept telling me he didn't want any fanfare, I tried to do a few special things for him.  I met him at work and went out to Tsunami with a bunch of his coworkers.  Kind of awkward but the food was delicious and I added some new topics to the lunch table. I also planned an outing with a bunch of his siblings and we all went to Settebello in Salt Lake City.  The pizza was delicious and we even got gelato next door.  I am very excited to eat Italian this summer in Italy.  The next gift is tomorrow night, a date to Eskaped with Kevin and Whitney (old mission and college friends).  I think next year I need to throw a big party.

 

 I love March 14! Pi day is a fabulous day and I thoroughly enjoyed making pie and smelling pie, and then eating pie.

 I took the boys to the BYU Powwow and had a nice day outside enjoying the sunshine and taking notes on a book about being imperfect.  We went to the Cannon Center before leaving and I hadn't been there in YEARS.  The food was fabulous and I ate plenty like usual.  I enjoy hanging out with the boys and walking around my alma matter.

 

 National Pancake day was one day last week and I had some extra time so I made pancake muffins.  They were a huge hit and all 70+ of them were gone in two days.

 Callie is a very friendly girl.  She always wants a friend over and i love watching and listening to her play.  I am so thankful to live in a neighborhood filled with children.
